Ried im Innkreis: 15-year-old causes serious crash during police chase

A high-speed police chase involving a 15-year-old driver ended in a severe two-car collision in Ried im Innkreis during the early hours of Saturday. According to police reports, the teenager attempted to evade a police patrol by driving away at high speed.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Brucknerstraße and Lubergasse when the teenager overtook a vehicle that was attempting to turn left. Both vehicles were thrown into a nearby garden of a multi-party residential building.

Emergency responders, including the fire department, had to extricate one person trapped in a vehicle. A 35-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Ried Hospital. A 16-year-old passenger in the teenager's vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Following the accident, a voluntary urine test for the 15-year-old driver returned positive for THC. Police also discovered cannabis residue in the vehicle. The teenager has been reported to the public prosecutor's office and the district authority.
