Riedlingsdorf Opens Sustainable Kindergarten; Munich’s kbo Kinderzentrum Begins Expansion

The Austrian municipality of Riedlingsdorf inaugurated a new two‑storey kindergarten built with hybrid construction, wood frames, a green roof with photovoltaic panels and a heat‑pump system. The 914‑square‑metre facility, costing about €3.49 million, consolidates a kindergarten and crèche under one roof and is set to open in September 2026.

In Germany, the kbo‑Kinderzentrum Munich held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the second phase of its child‑care complex in Großhadern. The expansion will add new social‑pediatric facilities, outdoor therapy gardens and additional space on a 7,500‑square‑metre site, with an expected completion in 2028. Funding includes €40 million from the Oberbayern district and €10 million from the Bavarian state, and the project was launched by district president Thomas Schwarzenberger, State Minister Ulrike Scharf and director Prof. Dr. Volker Mall.
