Italy law enforcement conducts widespread anti-crime operations
Italian law enforcement agencies have conducted a series of widespread operations across various regions, targeting organized crime, drug trafficking, and economic irregularities.
In the fight against narcotics, significant seizures were reported: the Polizia di Stato in Bologna recovered 420 kg of hashish, while the Guardia di Finanza in Orvieto seized 11 kg. Other operations in Salento and Sicily led to multiple arrests for drug distribution networks. In Belvedere Marittimo, police discovered hashish hidden within Christmas decorations.
Economic and labor-related crackdowns also saw results. In Rimini, the CGIL union raised alarms regarding labor exploitation and illegal manpower supply infiltrating the manufacturing sector. In Taranto, 25 people were reported for electricity theft, and in Basilicata, over 140,000 unsafe consumer products were seized. Additionally, authorities in Rome conducted high-impact security checks in the Vatican area to combat fraud and illegal street vending.
Other notable incidents include the suspension of commercial licenses in Foggia due to security concerns and the identification of students involved in thefts at a Modena supermarket.
