Rieti police report man for illegal possession of machete

Police in Rieti have reported a Ghanaian citizen for the illegal possession of weapons after he was spotted walking in the street with a machete. Officers responded to a report near the Rieti-Terni highway interchange on Via Tancia.

During the intervention, authorities located a makeshift camp hidden in a wooded area, consisting of a tent, a mattress, and a rudimentary kitchen. The individual, who is currently awaiting recognition of refugee status and is formally homeless, has a criminal record involving offenses against public officials, including resistance and contempt.

A search of the area led to the discovery of a machete and a billhook (roncola) hidden under a wooden pallet. Both items were seized, and the man was reported to the judicial authorities.
