Rifondazione Comunista endorses Luciano D'Amico for Chieti by-elections

The Communist Refoundation Party (Rifondazione Comunista) has announced its support for Luciano D'Amico in the Chieti by-elections. This marks the first time the party has joined a political coalition with the Democratic Party (PD) in national elections.

National Secretary Maurizio Acerbo stated that the decision to support D'Amico is a step toward building a ‘constitutional front’. The party aims to oppose what it describes as an institutional coup planned by Giorgia Meloni through proposed new legislation. Acerbo noted that the current leadership of the PD under Elly Schlein and the progressive positioning of the Five Star Movement under Giuseppe Conte have enabled this unified dialogue.

The party intends to use its presence on the ballot, after twenty years, to advocate for a program based on the principles of the Constitution. Key policy goals include halting rearmament, revitalizing public healthcare and the social state, protecting workers' rights and purchasing power, and defending the environment.
