Riga celebrates 825th anniversary with city-wide festivals

Riga is celebrating its 825th anniversary with a wide-ranging program of musical, gastronomic, and cultural events. The festivities, themed ‘Atver Rīgu! Kods: 825’, feature various locations across the city, including the 11. novembra krastmala, Old Riga, and Vermanes Garden.

Key highlights include a major concert program titled ‘Mana partitūra — Rīga’ at the waterfront, featuring artists such as Shipsea, Gustavo, and the Riga Chamber Choir. The celebration also includes workshops, a dedicated festival restaurant in Opera Square, and a special 15-minute laser, fountain, and video projection show on the Daugava river. Musical performances range from electronic music and hip-hop to jazz and folk, with acts including Sudden Lights, Auļi, and the Tom Rudzinskis Quartet.

Additionally, the Riga Motor Museum, in collaboration with the city municipality, will showcase the legendary ‘Auto Union Type C’ racing car, driven through the streets by Audi racing pilot Dindo Capello.
