Riga City Council allocates €255,000 for Bauskas iela explosion repairs

The Riga City Council Finance and Administration Committee has approved more than 255,000 euros in repair grants for residents of the residential building at Bauskas iela 15, which was damaged in an explosion. The funds will be distributed to 35 owners or tenants of affected apartments to assist in restoring their homes.

In addition to the repair grants, the Riga Social Service has provided 77,220 euros in crisis benefits to 70 households, along with food and hygiene packages for 17 households. The Housing and Environment Department has also provided temporary housing in a municipal building on Unijas iela 49 for 11 affected individuals.

The municipality is currently working on technical assessments, stabilization projects, and conservation plans for the building. Furthermore, the city is preparing amendments to local regulations to increase repair support for residential properties damaged by disasters or accidents.
