Riga FC loses to Liepāja, falling behind in Virsliga title race

Riga FC suffered a 2-3 defeat against FK Liepāja in the 28th round of the Latvian Virsliga, a result that complicates their pursuit of the league title. The loss marks Riga's second defeat of the season, both of which occurred away against Liepāja.

Liepāja took an early lead through Oloko Ede in the 4th minute, followed by an equalizer from Mohamed Badamosi. Ede later restored Liepāja's lead with a penalty. Although Abioudun Ogunniji assisted a goal that allowed Riga to narrow the gap in stoppage time, Liepāja secured the victory. The match also marked the debut of Spanish coach Kuro Torres for Liepāja.

Following this result, Riga FC trails the current leader, RFS, by four points with eight matches remaining in the season. RFS secured a 3-0 victory against Ogre United in their most recent fixture.
