Riga hosts 17th annual Krastu mačs basketball tournament
The 17th annual 'Krastu mačs' basketball tournament opened in Riga's Esplanāde near the Rainis monument. The event featured a three-day program combining sports, music, and celebrity appearances.
Former Latvian national team player Kristaps Valters won the 'CleanR' three-point contest with a score of 20 points. In the basketball matches, the twelve-time Latvian Basketball League champion VEF Rīga secured a 90:79 victory over Ghetto Family, with Aigars Šķēle named the most valuable player.
The tournament program included a concert by MARKO and a celebrity basketball exhibition featuring various actresses. A traditional duel between actors and musicians was also held. A special game scheduled for August 16 is dedicated to the memory of legendary Latvian basketball player Uļjana Semjonova.
