Riga police detain driver for speeding and high alcohol level

On October 22, shortly after 11:00 PM, State Police officers in Riga intercepted an Audi driver on Brīvības gatve. The driver was traveling at 154 km/h in a zone where the speed limit is 70 km/h.

Following the stop, a breathalyzer test revealed that the driver, a man born in 1999, had a blood alcohol concentration of 2.95 per mille. The individual was taken into temporary detention.

The State Police have initiated an administrative process regarding the speeding violation and a criminal process regarding driving under the influence of alcohol.
