Riga Royal Corgi Walk sets new record with 226 participants

The fourth annual Royal Corgi Walk took place in central Riga, setting a new record with 226 participating corgis. This increase follows last year's turnout of 198 dogs.

Inspired by the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II and her affinity for the breed, the event began with a ceremonial count at Bastejkalns Park. The procession, led by event organizer Arvis Zēmanis, moved from Bastejkalns past the Freedom Monument and Esplanade toward Kronvalda Park.

This year's festivities included a costume competition with awards in eight categories, including most elegant and most attractive. The judging panel featured UK Ambassador to Latvia Kitty Licchia, Modris Konovalovs, Sandija Šteinberga-Dukure, and Linda Vilmansone. The event concluded with a traditional British tea picnic, featuring guest of honor Kitty Licchia and musical performances by various artists.
