Riga Technical University and Latvian composites industry form research partnership
The Latvian Composites Association and Riga Technical University (RTU) have signed a cooperation agreement to bridge the gap between academic research, technical training, and industrial manufacturing requirements. The partnership aims to integrate practical industrial challenges directly into research projects and university curricula, ensuring that students and young researchers engage with real-world tasks early in their development.
This collaboration focuses on joint innovation projects, technology transfer, and the development of usable materials, components, and engineering solutions. A key participant in this effort is RTU’s Institute of High-Performance Materials and Structures, which specializes in developing and testing new materials and modeling their properties for industrial use.
The initiative began with a joint visit to Liepāja on September 30, where representatives from the association, RTU, and the University of Latvia visited Brimer Liepaja, the RTU Liepāja Academy, and the Liepāja Maritime College to discuss production processes and applied research opportunities.
