Riga to host 13th annual Father's Day parade and festival

The 13th annual Father's Day parade and festival, organized by the Latvian Parents Organization, will take place this Sunday, September 13, in central Riga. The event begins with a gathering at the Freedom Monument at 11:00 AM, followed by a traditional march along Brīvības Street toward Vērmanes Garden at 12:00 PM.

This year, the festival introduces a new “Stage for Future and New Parents,” featuring all-day discussions with specialists aimed at supporting expectant and new fathers. All festival activities are free of charge for families.

Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa, head of the Latvian Parents Organization, noted that the event aims to strengthen family ties and foster a sense of community. The organization highlighted the importance of celebrating fatherhood to create an environment where the parental role is valued, particularly as Latvia faces declining birth rates.
