Rigathi Gachagua Accuses Kenyan Government of Media Crackdown, Election Violence

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed that the Kenyan government deployed a "Nairobi sierra killer squad" to attack the Witima ACK church in Ol Kalou, abduct campaign supporters and intimidate residents ahead of the by‑election. He said his supporters were held at the Royal Garden Hotel and warned that any attempt to incite violence would be met with firm legal action.

Gachagua also alleged that President William Ruto’s administration is plotting to shut down media houses critical of the regime. He cited attacks on journalists from the Standard Media Group and MediaMax Ltd., naming reporter Vera Murara as being trailed by security operatives and accusing presidential adviser Moses Kuria of threatening other media workers. Gachagua compared the situation to recent media shutdowns in neighboring Uganda.
