Rigathi Gachagua alleges Wicknell Chivayo held Sh1.5 trillion for President Ruto
Former Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo died while in possession of over Sh1.5 trillion belonging to Kenyan President William Ruto. Speaking to clergy in Boston, Gachagua claimed Chivayo acted as a conduit for money laundering and used private aircraft to transport funds on the president's behalf.
Gachagua further alleged that Chivayo was involved in schemes to manipulate elections across Africa, specifically mentioning the 2027 Kenyan General Election. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and no documentary evidence has been provided to support the financial or political allegations.
Wicknell Chivayo died in a helicopter crash in the Marondera area of Zimbabwe, alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke, and four others. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed the deaths. While authorities investigate the cause of the crash, questions remain regarding the legal ownership of any assets Chivayo may have held, though the existence of the alleged Sh1.5 trillion remains unconfirmed.
