Rigathi Gachagua warns William Ruto over 2027 elections and mining deals

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued several warnings against President William Ruto regarding both electoral integrity and national resource management. During a meeting with Democratic for Citizens Party (DCP) aspirants in Laikipia County, Gachagua asserted that the 2027 General Election must proceed on its constitutional schedule without interference. He cautioned that the administration might attempt to use political instability or violence as a pretext to delay the vote and extend its tenure.

Additionally, speaking from the United States, Gachagua threatened legal action to block a proposed deal to exploit niobium deposits at Mrima Hills in Kwale County. He alleged that President Ruto is seeking to finalize an agreement with an American company to exploit the minerals, which are estimated to be worth Ksh8.2 trillion. Gachagua claimed the deal would deprive Kenyans of economic benefits, stating, “We will not allow William Ruto to sell our mineral deposits from Mrima Hills.”
