Rigby, Idaho shooting leaves one dead; suspect in custody

A fatal shooting occurred Sunday afternoon in Rigby, Idaho, involving two men along Ashlyn Way. One man was pronounced deceased at the scene after receiving medical treatment.

Rigby Police Chief Allen Fullmer stated that the second man involved fled the area but was later apprehended without incident on the west side of town. The suspect is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail. While one report suggests the incident may have stemmed from a suspected child custody dispute, authorities have not yet released the identities of the victim or the suspect.

Multiple agencies, including the Rigby Police, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Rexburg Police Department, and Idaho State Police, are assisting with the investigation. Chief Fullmer characterized the event as an ‘isolated incident.’
