Rijeka businesses receive Zlatna kuna awards amid economic growth

JATRO, Bureau Veritas Croatia, and JGL have been awarded the ‘Zlatna kuna’ plaques for their outstanding business results in 2025. Additionally, Jakov Karmelić received a lifetime achievement award during a ceremony held by the HGK – Rijeka County Chamber of Commerce.

Economic data for Rijeka shows significant growth. In 2025, the city hosted 5,723 entrepreneurs employing nearly 34,000 people, marking a record high for employment. Local businesses generated a total revenue of 4.64 billion euros, with net profits reaching 215.8 million euros—an increase of nearly 10 percent compared to the previous year. The average monthly net salary also rose by 11.8 percent to approximately 1,329 euros.

During the event, Deputy Mayor Aleksandar Saša Milaković addressed demographic challenges, noting a high ratio of retirees to employees in the region. He highlighted municipal efforts to support the economy, including income tax reductions and the provision of business spaces.
