The City of Rijeka has filed a criminal complaint with USKOK against former mayor Vojko Obersnel and several other unnamed individuals. The complaint alleges abuse of position and authority regarding the management of municipal property, specifically a garage located at Klobučićev Square.

Mayor Iva Rinčić stated that the city faces significant financial losses due to these irregularities. Direct damages are estimated at approximately 3 million euros, which includes 775,000 euros in uncollected communal contributions and 2.2 million euros paid for building rights intended for a city library that was never constructed. Furthermore, the city estimates indirect damages between 4 and 5 million euros based on current market rates, noting that the operator, Best in Parking, pays only 82 euros per day under the existing contract.

In May, the square above the garage was closed to the public following a technical report from the University of Rijeka's Faculty of Civil Engineering, which warned of serious damage to the garage's load-bearing structure and the risk of collapse. Despite these safety concerns, the garage has continued to operate.
