Rijeka launches two EU‑funded support projects for addicts and homeless

The city of Rijeka, together with NGOs Terra and Institut Pula, has begun a three‑year €270,787 project called RESET (Understanding, Education, Counseling, Empathy, Transformation). The programme will provide at least 2,600 services to 100 people with addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling or other substances, offering free psychosocial help, counseling and group support.

A separate €285,000 initiative, "Kre‑ni‑mo – Kreni s nama," was announced by the local charity Oaza in partnership with the city and Terra. Over the next three years the project aims to assist roughly 100 homeless individuals in the Rijeka area, delivering counseling, psychosocial assistance and help in exercising their rights. Dean Travica, president of Oaza, said the goal is to strengthen the capacities of homeless people so they can become full members of the community.

Both projects are financed from the European Social Fund Plus and are intended to improve inclusion and dignity for vulnerable groups in the Primorje‑Gorski  kotar region.
