Rijeka prosecutor indicts contractor for 30,000 euro theft

The Municipal State Prosecutor's Office in Rijeka has filed an indictment against a 39-year-old man suspected of stealing 30,130 euros from an apartment in Veprinac. The suspect had been hired by the homeowner to renovate a bathroom and install underfloor heating.

According to the indictment, the man used a duplicate bedroom key to enter the residence while the owner was away. He reportedly opened a safe using the factory default combination ‘0000’ and removed the funds. While the suspect admits to entering the apartment, he claims he only took approximately 15,000 euros.

The theft was discovered after a neighbor photographed the suspect and his vehicle entering the property, allowing the owner to identify him.
