Croatia allocates millions to regional health, social and green projects
Regional authorities in Croatia have approved a series of public‑funded initiatives across several counties. In Split‑Dalmatia the county allocated €152,000 to 20 tourism events, with the town of Sinj receiving the largest single grant of €20,000 for the "Congress of Spiritual Heritage of Marian Shrines – Sinj".
In Požega‑Slavonia a county‑wide centre for the education of children with disabilities is progressing, with project documentation to be completed by year‑end and construction slated to begin next year, aiming for operation by 2028.
Zadar County secured a €2.7 million hospice building, largely financed by the national government, and is advancing multiple health facilities, including a new operational block for Zadar General Hospital and a helicopter‑medical service base near Zemunik Airport.
The city of Rijeka launched two EU‑funded social programmes: the RESET project (€270,787) to provide free addiction‑recovery services for at least 100 users, and the KRE‑NI‑MO project (€285,187) targeting homeless individuals with comprehensive support.
Zagreb County received 12 contracts worth €19.1 million for green urban infrastructure, described by Minister Branko Bačić as “the lungs of our cities”, aimed at planting 87 000 trees and creating 330 ha of parks and waterways for roughly 340 000 residents.
