Rijkswaterstaat to hold consultations on Wadden Sea management

Rijkswaterstaat has announced a new series of information meetings scheduled for autumn 2026 regarding the management of the Wadden Sea area. This initiative follows findings that nature in the Wadden Sea and the North Sea coastal zone has declined.

Every six years, Rijkswaterstaat reviews whether nature goals are being met and if current measures effectively protect local flora and fauna. The upcoming meetings aim to provide updates on ongoing plans and improve how residents, entrepreneurs, and local authorities are involved in the decision-making process. This new approach is intended to prevent the confusion and unrest experienced during previous discussions regarding topics such as recreational zoning.
