Riksbyggen AI service cuts heating costs for Swedish housing cooperative
Brf Umeåhus 14, a housing cooperative in Umeå, has successfully reduced its heating consumption by nearly 25 percent in one year through the implementation of an AI-driven heat optimization service. Managed by Riksbyggen, the system utilizes wireless sensors to fine-tune heating levels throughout the building, resulting in annual savings of approximately 113,000 SEK.
To address resident concerns regarding privacy and comfort, the cooperative opted for a compromise by installing sensors in roughly half of the apartments, focusing primarily on outer-facing units. The installation process was described as simple, involving small, wireless pucks that required no cabling.
