Rila Ikuta to make live-action debut in ‘SUKIYAKI Ue o Muite Arukou’
Singer-songwriter Rila Ikuta, known as the vocalist for YOASOBI, will make her live-action film debut in the upcoming movie ‘SUKIYAKI Ue o Muite Arukou’. She is cast to play the role of Michiyo Azusa, a major star of the Showa era famous for the hit song ‘Konnichiwa Akachan’.
The film, scheduled for release on December 25, is a fictionalized account based on facts regarding the creation of the legendary song ‘Sukiyaki’ (Ue o Muite Arukou). It focuses on the lives of the ‘689 Trio’: composer Hachidai Nakamura, lyricist Rokusuke Ei, and singer Kyu Sakamoto.
Cast members include Junichi Okada as Nakamura, Tori Matsuzaka as Ei, and Taiga Nakano as Sakamoto. Ikuta expressed pride in participating in the musical film, noting that she aimed to capture Azusa’s atmosphere through period-accurate styling and vocal performance.
