Riley Hawk Marks One Year of Sobriety

Professional skateboarder Riley Hawk celebrated a year of sobriety on July 26, sharing an Instagram story that read “1 year sober today.” He posted a photo of a bouquet of roses and two boxes of praline chocolates, a gift from his wife, artist Frances Bean Cobain, whom he married in 2023.

Hawk has spoken openly about his past as a “functioning alcoholic,” describing how constant bar culture led to heavy drinking. To quit, he underwent about six ketamine‑infusion therapy sessions, with his father, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, accompanying him to the treatments. In a September 2024 podcast, he reflected on watching friends succumb to self‑destructive paths, which motivated his change.

In addition to his sobriety milestone, Hawk welcomed his son Ronin with Frances Bean Cobain in September 2024; the child is now roughly 22 months old. The achievement also makes Tony Hawk a first‑time grandfather, and he recently offered parenting advice about savoring small moments with his grandchildren.
