Riley Jacob Hagar faces arrest warrant after court no-show
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Riley Jacob Hagar, 29, after he failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing in Indio, California. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Anthony Villalobos rescinded Hagar’s $30,000 bond following his absence from a retrial status conference at the Larson Justice Center.
Hagar is accused of facilitating the fentanyl poisoning of 22-year-old Travis O’Brien on New Year’s Day in 2022. While Hagar was acquitted of murder charges in March, a jury deadlocked on a charge of voluntary manslaughter, leading to the current legal proceedings.
Prosecutors allege that Hagar acted as a facilitator, providing O’Brien with the necessary information to acquire fentanyl-packed pills. Investigators claim O’Brien intended to sell the drugs for profit but consumed several of the synthetic opioids before being found dead at a motel in Rancho Mirage.
