Rima Hassan files complaint against French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez
European Parliament member Rima Hassan has filed a complaint against French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez before the Court of Justice of the Republic. The complaint accuses Nunez of breaching the secrecy of an investigation and potentially leaking confidential information to the media.
Hassan’s lawyer, Vincent Brengarth, characterized the situation as a ‘scandal of state,’ alleging that the minister contributed to the spread of inaccurate information that damaged Hassan’s reputation. The legal action follows reports, including an investigation by France 2, suggesting that judicial police monitored Hassan’s movements and phone activity using geolocation data and records from transport operators like SNCF and Thalys.
The controversy stems from Hassan’s detention in April regarding allegations of terrorist propaganda. While the Interior Minister has defended his actions, the Paris prosecutor's office noted that a preliminary investigation into media leaks regarding the case is currently being handled by the Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale (IGPN).
