Rimac Group expands into energy storage and autonomous mobility

Mate Rimac, President of Rimac Group and CEO of Bugatti Rimac, is diversifying his business interests beyond electric hypercars. The group is increasingly focusing on energy storage systems and autonomous mobility through its subsidiary Verne, which specializes in robotaxis.

Rimac Technology, which employs 1,200 people, currently holds orders from automotive manufacturers valued at five billion euros. The company provides battery technology to clients including BMW, Porsche, and the Saudi Arabian manufacturer Ceer. Rimac expects technology revenue to reach 350 million euros this year, with projections to double that figure next year.

In addition to technology and mobility, the group has invested heavily in its Zagreb-area campus, spending 130 million euros on buildings and 300 million euros on production facilities. While Bugatti Rimac reported 640 million euros in revenue and 200 million euros in EBITDA last year, Rimac noted that European automakers face significant competitive challenges from China.
