Iran-Pakistan border trade resumes at Rimdan crossing
Cross-border trade has partially resumed at the Rimdan-Gabd border crossing between Iran and Pakistan following a suspension that left hundreds of heavy trucks stranded. After a five-day closure caused by changes in Pakistani customs tariffs and banking conditions, officials reached an agreement to prioritize the exchange of perishable goods and produce.
Mohammad Saeed Arbabi, CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization, confirmed that a three-hour meeting at the border facilitated the resumption of trade for perishable items. He noted that while perishable goods are being prioritized to prevent loss, the border is expected to return to normal commercial operations within the coming days.
Local officials and business leaders indicated that the initial reopening aims to mitigate financial losses for traders and exporters who faced significant delays during the shutdown.
