Italy regional initiatives focus on youth education and bullying prevention

Various regional initiatives in Italy are addressing youth development, social integration, and the challenges facing modern education. In Basilicata, regional assessor Francesco Cupparo emphasized the need for schools and families to act as 'educating communities' that prioritize the individual over grades or performance, noting a demographic decline that has reduced the student population by 1,839 this year.

Efforts to combat bullying are also prominent. In Atella, a cinema project titled ‘Le parole pesano, rendile leggere’ uses film to raise awareness about bullying and cyberbullying among young people. Similarly, in Enna, the Panathlon Club is hosting a forum involving law enforcement, health services, and sports organizations to discuss bullying and youth distress through the lens of sports and institutional support.

Psychological perspectives also highlight the impact of digital environments. Experts note that for many adolescents, social media serves as a primary space for identity construction, where feelings of loneliness can escalate into anger or group pressure.
