Rimini hospital hosts emergency wedding in medical unit

A couple held their wedding ceremony in the Short Term Intensive Care (OBI) unit of a hospital in Rimini, Italy, following a sudden deterioration in the man's health due to a serious pathology.

On the morning of Friday, August 14, the medical room was transformed into a wedding venue. The ceremony was attended by four witnesses, family members, and municipal registry officials. The Ausl della Romagna reported that the couple chose to proceed with the wedding immediately rather than waiting, highlighting the strength of their bond.

Under Article 101 of the Italian Civil Code, marriages can be celebrated in hospitals or emergency departments without the standard public notices if one spouse is in imminent danger of death. Dr. Tiziana Perin, director of Emergency Medicine in Rimini, was also present for the event.
