Rimini implements emergency panic buttons for bus drivers
Authorities in Rimini have implemented a “Panic Button” system for Start Romagna bus drivers to combat aggression and improve passenger safety. An agreement signed between the prefecture, police, Carabinieri, and the transport company allows drivers to trigger an immediate alarm in the event of an assault or serious danger.
Upon activation, the system transmits real-time video footage from onboard cameras and provides the vehicle's precise geolocation to emergency dispatchers. This allows law enforcement to monitor ongoing incidents and deploy patrols more effectively. The initiative, which extends a model previously used in Forlì-Cesena, will cover approximately 200 buses already equipped with video surveillance.
