Rimini local police investigation prompts calls for resignations
An investigation into eight agents of the ‘Falchi’ (Falcons) unit within the Rimini local police has triggered political tension in the city council. The agents have been suspended following allegations of crimes including forgery of public documents, slander, private violence, and illegal arrest.
Fratelli d’Italia has called for the resignations of local police assessor Juri Magrini and police commander Andrea Rossi. The opposition is questioning whether the municipal administration was aware of these behaviors or if internal oversight failed. Magrini has denied that the administration had knowledge of any conduct constituting the alleged crimes.
The municipality is currently evaluating whether to join the criminal proceedings as a civil party to seek damages once the investigation concludes. Magrini noted that the city may also pursue civil actions for compensation or report the findings to the Court of Auditors.
