Louis Dassilva breaks silence after acquittal in Pierina Paganelli murder case
Louis Dassilva, the former suspect in the October 2023 murder of 78-year-old Pierina Paganelli in Rimini, has broken his silence following his acquittal by the Court of Assize. The court acquitted Dassilva due to insufficient evidence, leading to his release after 694 days in prison.
Dassilva appeared in a television interview, stating that while he has his own ideas regarding the killer, he cannot point fingers without proof. He suggested that Manuela Bianchi, the victim's daughter-in-law and his former lover, may have provided accusations out of vengeance or to protect herself or someone else.
The Rimini Prosecutor's Office, led by Daniele Paci, has announced its intention to appeal the acquittal. The deadline for the court to deposit the official written motivations for the acquittal has been extended by 90 days, delaying the next phase of the legal battle.
