Rimini street food businesses nearly double in ten years
Street food businesses in the Romagna region, specifically within the Forlì-Cesena and Rimini areas, have seen significant growth over the last decade. According to data from Infocamere-Movimprese processed by the Romagna Chamber of Commerce, there were 61 active street food enterprises in the territory as of June 30, 2026, representing a 90.6% increase compared to June 2016.
In the province of Rimini alone, the number of active businesses reached 35, a 94.4% increase from 2016. Rimini leads the province with 14 businesses, followed by Misano with 6 and Riccione with 3. This growth in the region outpaces the national average increase of 83.8%.
The sector has evolved from an alternative dining option into a robust business model that caters to experiential tourism and consumer demand for flexible, informal, and local dining. Most of these businesses are individual enterprises (73.8%), followed by joint-stock companies (16.4%) and partnerships (6.6%). Demographic data shows that 26.2% of these businesses are female-led, 13.1% are youth-led, and 8.2% are foreign-owned.
