Rincón de la Victoria and Toledo prune urban trees to improve safety

The municipality of Rincón de la Victoria in Spain has continued its annual palm‑tree pruning campaign that began in June and is scheduled to run through September. About 65% of the work is complete, covering more than a thousand palms across the town using elevated platforms, a basket truck and a crane. Officials say the effort aims to maintain the trees, enhance the urban image and reduce safety risks for residents and visitors.

In Toledo, city officials have removed a hazardous elm in Plaza de San Agustín after technical assessments showed unstable branches and root damage that threatened pedestrians. The council plans to replace the felled tree with three new specimens during the next planting campaign, citing recent incidents in other city squares as motivation for the action.
