Ring Road 3 noise barriers installed near Ho Chi Minh City urban areas

Construction of the elevated section of Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City is nearing completion, with a focus on noise mitigation measures near residential areas. Approximately 9,130 noise barrier panels, covering a total surface area of 18,260 square meters, have been installed along nearly 7 to 9 kilometers of the route passing through the Vinhomes Grand Park urban area.

The noise barriers stand approximately 4 meters high and are constructed from specialized plastic combined with thick aluminum frames for weather resistance and durability. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, these barriers are expected to reduce traffic noise levels from 80-90dB to below 70dB, meeting safety standards and improving the living environment for local residents.

In addition to noise reduction, the system serves as a windbreak to assist driver concentration and increase safety. To prevent panels from falling during collisions, particularly with heavy vehicles like containers, each panel is secured with cables.

The section from the Tan Van junction to Nhon Trach Bridge is scheduled to open to traffic on September 30. This segment also features the first application of porous asphalt to improve drainage and reduce water splashing during rain.
