Ring to launch Neighbours community feature in the UK

Ring, an Amazon subsidiary, is launching its ‘Neighbours’ community feature in the United Kingdom on October 21, 2026. The service will be integrated into the Ring app and will be free to use, even for individuals who do not own Ring devices.

Users can define a specific radius around their home, up to five miles, to exchange information and share warnings with neighbors. The platform aims to provide a moderated alternative to existing neighborhood communication channels on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook. Ring intends to offer more targeted content and stricter posting guidelines, including the option for users to post anonymously.

A key feature of the service is a community request function, which allows police to ask residents living near reported crimes for video footage. While the police can request this data, the sharing of recordings remains entirely voluntary for the users.
