La Poste faces potential closure of 471 post offices in France
La Poste is facing potential restructuring that could see up to 471 post offices across France transformed or closed by 2027. According to information from the SUD PTT union and reports by Mediapart, these changes involve converting traditional branches into municipal postal agencies or commercial relay points.
The proposed transformations affect various regions, including the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand Est, and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Major cities such as Lyon and Grenoble are also reportedly included in the lists of sites under review.
La Poste has stated that these lists do not definitively determine the future of every location but rather serve as a basis for discussion and consultation with local elected officials. The group attributes the potential changes to a deep evolution in customer usage and a continuous decline in the frequency of visits to physical postal contact points.
