Rino Tazawa arrested in Roppongi for cocaine possession

Rino Tazawa, a prominent nightlife figure and social media influencer known as ‘Yamatorino’, has been arrested alongside her boyfriend, Kota Fukumoto, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act. Following a months-long investigation, police raided Tazawa’s residence in Roppongi, Minato City, on September 15, seizing approximately 0.4 grams of cocaine, 21 packets of unidentified white powder, and drug paraphernalia. Tazawa reportedly confessed to using the drugs, while Fukumoto denied ownership.

The arrest has drawn significant public attention due to Tazawa’s high profile in Tokyo’s nightlife scene. She previously set a record at the club ‘Jungle Tokyo’ by generating 230 million yen in sales during her birthday month in April.

Public backlash intensified following footage of Tazawa’s behavior while being transported to the Harajuku Police Station. Observers noted her making gestures and posing for media cameras with winks and facial expressions, which many netizens criticized as a lack of remorse. Additionally, editor Kosuke Minowa commented on the incident via YouTube, suggesting that drug use is more prevalent in the Minato City nightlife district than is publicly acknowledged.
