Rio 2016 legacy facilities support Brazilian athlete training

Ten years after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) continues to utilize various facilities to support the preparation of national athletes. Key venues include the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park and the Artistic Gymnastics Training Center in Rio de Janeiro.

The Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, which the COB holds rights to until 2048, is expected to serve 1,365 competitors across 46 disciplines in 2026. Since 2019, the COB has invested over R$ 60 million in renovations and modernizations at the complex, which also houses an Olympic Laboratory for athlete testing. The committee allocates approximately R$ 2 million annually for logistics, food, and certain transportation costs.

The Artistic Gymnastics Training Center serves as a base for prominent athletes such as Rebeca Andrade and Flávia Saraiva. The COB invests annually in equipment replacement, noting R$ 1 million spent this year with an additional R$ 3 million projected for future acquisitions.
