Greece implements digital reforms in education, justice, and traffic management

Greece is implementing several major digital transformations across public sectors.

For students, the electronic registration process for the 2026 Panhellenic Exam successful candidates is currently underway. This mandatory online process, managed by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, runs until September 4, 2026. It includes specific protocols for general high school graduates and those in special categories, such as students with severe medical conditions.

In the judicial sector, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Digital Governance are launching new digital tools to reduce court backlogs. On September 1, 2026, the Electronic Appeals Platform will become operational, followed by the full implementation of the Electronic Case File in civil justice on September 16. These measures aim to clear approximately 36,500 pending appeals and modernize case management.

Additionally, the Hellenic Police have deployed the ‘Traffic Commander’ system in Attica. This operational system utilizes Artificial Intelligence, drones, and 235 cameras to monitor real-time traffic conditions. The system is designed to identify congestion points and deploy rapid response teams, including cyclists and traffic officers, to manage the high volume of vehicles in the Athens metropolitan area.
