Rio Ave appoints Vasco Seabra as new head coach
Rio Ave has officially appointed Vasco Seabra as its new head coach for the Portuguese I Liga. The 43-year-old manager succeeds Sotiris Silaidopoulos, who was dismissed following a difficult start to the season.
Seabra joins from Arouca, where he had been coaching since the start of the 2024/25 season. To secure his services, Rio Ave reportedly paid a release clause estimated at one million euros. While one report mentions a contract valid for two seasons, another indicates a term lasting until 2029.
In his initial statements, Seabra expressed a desire to build a proactive, collective-focused team that aims to be a protagonist in matches. He emphasized the importance of unity, resilience, and strengthening the connection with the club's supporters. He is scheduled to begin training immediately, with his competitive debut expected against Nacional in the eighth round of the championship.
