Rio Branco authorities remove hundreds of tons of waste in cleaning operations
The Rio Branco municipal government has intensified urban cleaning operations across the capital, removing hundreds of tons of waste and debris. Under the ‘Cuidar Rio Branco’ program, teams have removed over 70 tons of trash and rubble from the beds of the Batista and São Francisco streams within an eight-day period. This initiative aims to preserve local wildlife, including fish and caimans, while improving urban sanitation.
Additionally, cleaning efforts in the Vitória neighborhood resulted in the removal of more than 220 tons of accumulated debris. These operations, conducted by the Municipal Secretariat of City Care, include mowing, raking, and general maintenance. Mayor Alysson Bestene has emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging residents to use proper disposal services to prevent illegal dumping in streets, canals, and natural waterways.
