Rio Branco Health Council president removed over corruption allegations

The Municipal Health Council of Rio Branco has approved the removal of Francisco Oliveira da Silva Ribeiro from his position as council member and president. The decision follows an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct.

The investigation, conducted by the Permanent Commission of Ethics, Laws, and Norms (CELEN), found the accusations of requesting and receiving undue financial advantages from entities benefiting from municipal parliamentary amendments to be substantiated. The report classified his conduct as a “grave ethical infraction” incompatible with his role in overseeing the Unified Health System (SUS).

Evidence cited in the proceedings includes documented conversations and testimonies regarding the solicitation and transfer of funds via PIX. Additionally, the investigation revealed irregularities concerning the use of a public vehicle, noting that Ribeiro was operating with an expired driver's license.
