Rio Branco official dismissed following sexual harassment conviction

The Rio Branco City Hall has dismissed Janildo Nonato Monteiro from his position as Director of Cultural Policies at the Garibaldi Brasil Municipal Foundation for Culture, Sport, and Leisure (FGB). The dismissal follows a judicial conviction for two counts of sexual harassment against a contracted worker.

Judge Ricardo Wagner de Medeiros Freire of the 3rd Criminal Court of Rio Branco issued the sentence after a complaint from the Acre Public Ministry. The court found that the incidents occurred in November 2025, involving non-consensual sexual comments made to the victim. While Monteiro denied the allegations, claiming they were misunderstandings or attempts to harm his reputation, the court rejected his defense and recognized the continuity of the offenses.
