Brazil readies Carnival 2027 with samba school line‑ups and Porto Velho comeback

The municipal government of Porto Velho has launched the planning process for Carnival 2027, aiming to restore samba school parades that have been absent for eight years. The first meeting, organized by the Fundação Cultural de Porto Velho (Funcultural), brought together city officials, representatives of local samba schools (Acadêmicos da Zona Leste, Asfaltão, Diplomatas, São João Batista) and the Liga das Escolas de Samba to set the calendar, security plans and public‑attendance estimates.

In Rio de Janeiro, several top samba schools have begun selecting their 2027 samba‑enredos. The Estação Primeira de Mangueira presented ten entries in its first eliminatory, narrowing them to six for the next round, with the chosen theme “Oyá Por Nós” honoring the orixá. Paraíso do Tuiuti became the first Grupo Especial school to release its official hymn, featuring a composition by Claudio Russo, Gustavo Clarão and Luiz Antonio Simas under carnavalesco Renato Lage. Unidos da Ponte also published its 2027 video clip and samba‑enredo, adding to the season’s creative lineup.
