Rio samba schools Unidos da Tijuca and São Clemente unveil new teams for 2027 Carnival

Unidos da Tijuca announced a reinforced roster ahead of the 2027 Rio Carnival, introducing master‑of‑ceremony Marcinho Siqueira, flag bearer Cristiane Caldas and carnavalesco Lucas Milato. The school aims to return to the top of the Grupo Especial with innovative, luxurious designs and a message‑driven parade.

São Clemente confirmed Annik Salmon as its sole female carnavalesca for the 2027 competition in the Série Ouro, marking the school’s return to the Sapucaí on Friday, 5 February. Salmon, a former member of Mangueira, Unidos da Tijuca and other major agremiações, plans an “irreverent” presentation that honors the legacy of Rosa Magalhães.

Both schools are targeting strong showings in the upcoming Carnival, highlighting leadership changes and fresh creative visions to re‑elevate their positions in Rio’s samba hierarchy.
