Rio Carnival's Liesa Opens 2027 Ticket Sales and Launches YouTube TV Channel
The Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba do Rio de Janeiro (Liesa) announced that ticket sales for the 2027 Rio Carnival will resume in August. Special bleacher seats and individual chair tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster, with a pre‑sale for Mercado Pago users from August 7‑9 and general sales beginning at 19:00 on August 10. Prices are set at R$250 per ticket, half‑price R$125, with purchase limits of two tickets in the pre‑sale and four in the general sale, marking the third stage of ticket distribution after earlier passes sold out.
Liesa also launched its own YouTube channel, TV Rio Carnaval, on August 31. The channel, which already has 152,000 subscribers, will provide continuous live coverage of samba‑school competitions, behind‑the‑scenes events, and other Carnival‑related programming. Up to 70 live broadcasts are planned over two months, amounting to roughly 300 hours of live content, including the selection of samba‑enredo for the twelve schools in the Grupo Especial. The initiative, produced in partnership with the public cultural agency MARÉ, aims to reach fans beyond Rio while TV Globo continues to broadcast the official parades to more than 130 countries.
